A reward of up to 3,000 euros for the contribution to the disclosure of tax evasion will be available to those who used the Appodixi App and reported to the AADE (with… receipts that they scanned and “by name”), the action of the circuit of the Chinese stores that was transmitted to the Tax Office only on 1 /10 of the value of the receipts he was cutting.
This was reported by competent sources of AADE and explained that the final arrangements are expected in the summer so that the prizes can be activated by the autumn. However, they will apply, but they will also apply retroactively for violations detected in the previous months.
“Witness Protection”
According to information from newmoney.gr, the start of the reward program is delayed because the Ministry of Finance and the tax administration are preparing a legislative intervention to …fully anonymize each named complaint, so that the life or property of whoever testifies is not endangered ( evidence) leads to exposure of schemes and vested interests.
However, the fact that a long period of time has passed since the relevant incentive was first announced seems to have discouraged taxpayers from making a large number of complaints, as it seems that the flow has “frozen” in the last 2-3 months.
Rewards for … hackers
However, with the existing institutional framework, only those who legitimately use the Appodixi app and lead to the disclosure of tax evasion with illegal software that “deletes” the receipts, as happened in the case with the Chinese companies, are entitled to a fee.
Those who submit complaints “anonymously” or do not use the Appodixi app are therefore not eligible – according to the law. So those who reported the two companies (in Komotini and Larissa with a branch in Thessaloniki) that issued tax information with an unreadable QR will not receive a reward, although they caused the audit, because (a) they submitted the reports anonymously and (b) they did not send them through the application from their mobile phone.
The bonuses
According to the relevant provision, if, following a named complaint, through the “QR code appodixi” scanning application of the Independent Public Revenue Authority, which concerns retail sales data, a tax audit is carried out and a fine is imposed, for violation or falsification or interference with the operation of Tax Electronic Mechanisms, the complainant receives a monetary reward after a decision of the Governor of A.A.D.E.
The monetary reward is ten times the transaction value of the issued retail item complained of, including applicable VAT. In no case does it fall short of 100 euros, nor does it exceed 3,000 euros. If the complaint concerns several tax items issued by the same entity, the monetary reward is calculated on the issued tax item with the highest value.
The next step is for the Ministry of Finance to decide what will be done with the complaints submitted to the special platform of AADE. In simple words, if some kind of reward will be provided for these cases, even more so when it is not about cases of undeclared receipts or “monkey” cash, but more serious cases of tax evasion and smuggling.
So far, according to estimates, well over 15,000 complaints (anonymous and named) have been submitted for tax and customs violations. According to competent sources, many of these complaints have already been exploited and have paved the way for the disclosure of important tax evasion cases.
